What Winnetka homeowners ask before they book.

It is the strongest case there is. A cool-season lawn on an exposed Winnetka lot browns every summer and only stays green on water it cannot really justify. Turf stays green through it all with none of the water, mowing, or reseeding. The payback is fastest exactly where the lawn struggles most.
It runs warmer than real grass in direct sun, and Winnetka lots get full sun most of the day. Shade from a tree or a cover makes the biggest difference, lighter infill helps, and a quick rinse cools it fast on the worst afternoons. Most families notice it a handful of days a year.
A short, dense blade that springs back, over a fully perforated backing and an odor-controlling zeolite infill so urine drains through and the yard does not turn sour in the heat. On a small Winnetka lot a dog walks the same paths daily, so density is what keeps it from matting.
Always. The old grass and a few inches of soil come out, because turf laid over dead lawn settles into every dip within a season. On the flat clay here we regrade at the same time so water drains instead of pooling.
Old lawn out, then crushed base compacted in layers, a weed barrier, then the turf, seamed and edged, with infill brushed in. On Winnetka clay the compaction is what stops it going wavy. The base is the whole job.
Not on a quality product. Cheap turf goes grey and shiny after a couple of exposed Valley summers, and a full-sun Winnetka lot is where you would see it fastest. Turf with stabilisers built through the fibre holds color for its warranty term.
Most Winnetka yards are two to three days. The lots are small and flat, which keeps it moving, and access is usually good. Bigger back yards or added hardscape take a little longer. You get the real schedule when we quote.
Yes. The turf is lead-free and non-toxic, and a play area can have a shock pad underneath. It also stays clean, no mud after a rinse and no bare patches, which on a small family lot is a daily win.
Yes, better than most real lawns, because the backing is perforated and the compacted base under it is built to drain. If a turf yard ever puddles, the cause is the base or the grade, not the turf.
Not up through the backing. Seeds can sprout in the infill or along edges, which is easy to pull, and we lay a weed barrier under the base. Compared to weeding a real lawn it is almost nothing.
Yes. The strip by the curb bakes from reflected heat and is nearly impossible to water evenly, so turf or a low-water conversion suits it well. Note the city has rules on parkway height and keeping a walkable path, and we build to them.
Turf where you want a green surface for kids or a dog; drought-tolerant planting where the lawn was only decorative. Plenty of Winnetka homeowners do both, turf in the used area and low-water planting around it.
A finished, low-maintenance yard reads well, and on the rentals common around here the case is direct: no mowing, no water, no reseeding between tenants. Nothing is guaranteed, but a green yard in September sells better than a brown one.
The turf carries a manufacturer warranty, usually many years against fading and wear, and our installation workmanship is warranted separately. We hand you the paperwork for the exact product installed.
Rinse occasionally, brush the high-traffic paths now and then, and blow off leaves. Pet areas want a rinse more often in summer. No mowing, no fertiliser, no sprinkler repairs.
